Finland to Produce Shipwreck Brew

Posted on March 27, 2013

Three years ago, researchers pulled 5 bottles of beer and 168 bottles of champagne from a ship believed to have sunk sometime in the 1840s. Recently, authorities in Finland have revealed that a local brewer plans to produce beer inspired by the bottles pulled from the wreck.

The brewer is located on the Aland Islands in the Baltic Sea. According to Aland authorities, scientists were able to determine an adequate formula to recreate the brew. The CEO of the local brewing company, Jan Wennstrom, hopes that production of the vintage beer will aid their brewery to reach new markets.
