Buenos Dias de Honduras!

PB and I arrived in San Pedro Sula on Sunday for a little spring break vagabonding. We made our way via a hot, crowded bus to the Caribbean town of Tela, where the breeze is cool and the conch is garlicky and delicious.

Yesterday, we hoofed out to the botanical garden at Lancetilla, which was well worth the trip. We took the long path, passing through monster trees and visiting the historic cemetery. We walked through the bamboo tunnel and enjoyed a dip in the rio. The midday heat can be a bit oppressive but cooling off in the water provided a welcome respite.

In the evening, we sat at a foodstand on the beach and ate fresh fish that was fried in front of us, served with cabbage slaw and papas. We then retired to the rooftop at Hotel Maya Vista to drink Port Royal and real-sugar-Coke on the serene rooftop patio.

Today, we will head to Copan Ruinas, where I will take lots of photos of the ruins and report back on the highlights.

Adios por ahora, mis amigos.
